Kukicha (茎茶) (Japanese Stem Tea)

Kuki meaning Stalk and Cha meaning Tea, this tea is a blend of leaf stems gathered during refinement of sencha tea leaves.

Taste: Mild and smooth Umami flavour. Shaded by the tea leaf during its growing cycle, the stalk (Kuki) receives less direct light than the tea leaves. This less light exposure results in less catechins (bitter tasting compound) offering a sweeter flavour.

Lower in caffeine compared to sencha tea leaves, perfect for trying a variety of Japanese tea products.
